Let's talk about The Rutles album here. I think it's a great CD and I'm very lucky to have the cover of the CD Signed by Neil Innes when I met him after his show at the Edinburgh Festival

Yes, its my first true love. When the new recording arrived, I thought that was better, but now that the new car smell has worn off, this one is superior.

I love this album....fairly obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be writing here.
However, the one thing I found slightly strange was when I kept hearing everyone say that Neil really sounded like John on certain songs. I could never quite see how they thought it was the real John singing because I always thought it sounded like Neil. But when I got hold of the album on record and listened to it, I found that I completely agreed with them.
Maybe it's because on the CD they've cleared up the vocals so that they're not as muffled as they are on the record. Either that or I'm going deaf....which is more than likely.

I'm just listening to the rutles album now, I think Neils Mock scouse accent shows that he's not the real John, as he never sounded that scouse when he sang. He does do a good impression however, and the accent is obviously part of the comedy.
